Granting IMAP Access
(for Google Users)
Google has strict security policies around IMAP access.
If you receive an IMAP error, please complete these steps:
Step 1 - Setup 2-Factor Authentication
https://myaccount.google.com/signinoptions/two-step-verification
Click the link above and sign-in. Confirm 2-factor authentication is set up for your Google account. If it is OFF, turn it ON.
Step 2 - Enable IMAP Access
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?tab=rm&ogbl#settings/fwdandpop Click the link above. Under IMAP Access, confirm "Enable IMAP" is selected.
Step 3 - Create an App Password
https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords
Click the link above. Sign-in to Google, then under "Select the app and device you want to generate the app password for", click the "Select app" dropdown and choose "Other (custom name)".
Type "SpitFire CRM" and click the Generate button.
Copy the 16-digit app password (you'll use this password in Step 6 below). Click Done.
Step 4 - Allow Access

Click the link above. Then click the "Continue" button on the page to allow access.
Step 5 - Allow Users to Manage

Click the link above. Confirm "Allow users to manage their access to less secure apps" is selected.
Step 6 - Use App Password in SpitFire CRM
https://app.spitfirecrm.com/AccountSettings/Index#m_tabs_2_2
Click the link above. Under "IMAP Settings", select "Gmail" as mail type. Then enter your email address, the app password you created (in Step 3 above) and the following:

Require SSL:
Checked
Port:
993
Click the "Save" button on that page. Then click "Test Receiving" to confirm the IMAP connection was successful.
